Pilot investment on efficient public lighting starts in Suhareka
12 Gusht 2024
Public street lighting will be provided for the first time for the residents of Gelanca village of Suhareka municipality in Kosovo. The implementation of this energy efficiency project is currently underway with the installation of around 210 smart lights, which enable 5 different lighting levels, saving not only energy, but also adjusting the light level to facilitate driving and walking for pedestrians.
The investment is being implemented by the municipality of Suhareka and the contracted company "Monting" within the project "The path towards the efficient use of local natural resources", with the financing of the Albania-Kosovo cross-border program of IPA II Pre-Accession Instrument of the European Union.
The program will also continue to build the capacities of municipal staff as well as other local actors to collaborate towards a greener and more sustainable future for Suharek. The project is carried out in cooperation with the Academy of Political Studies, the Institute for Political Studies of Pristina and the municipality of Kurbin.
